SESSION ABSTRACT

Embracing the challenges of 2020, teachers need to be creative searching for ways to make lessons active, interactive, and effective. We often ask ourselves, "How do I get my students to talk?"

In this workshop, we're going to look at how pictures can help us motivate the unmotivated, teach the unteachable, arouse curiosity, engage students via the screen, and make it come alive.

Having collaborated with teachers from different countries, and worked both online and face to face, I have come to realize that we all face the same problem. No matter what our teaching style is or which approach we prefer, we all want to make learning happen and to see eager faces of our students.

Starting with an insight into why visuals are so important and where to find pictures and images for the lesson, we will proceed to the discussion of the ways of how to benefit from using real life photos for reading and listening comprehension, as well as for teaching grammar and vocabulary.

Participants will receive a lot of ready-to-use activities and a list of online tools and smartphone apps that never fail but always help to make learning more engaging and students more motivated. All of the activities are easily adapted for any age group and can fit any classroom.

Participants will have an opportunity to take part in the presented activities. No prior knowledge is required.

The session will be useful for teachers who are looking for ways to make lessons more effective, engaging, and fun, and who want to make the most of the lessons in the new era.
